Liz Kobusinge

Liz Kobusinge is a multimedia artist whose work showed at Southbank Centre in London, Goethe Zentrum Kampala with ‘Return to Sender’ and Kampala Fashion Week.

Like many, plant care became a way for Liz to cope with the upheaval of the pandemic. The practice of nurturing a garden and watching it grow slowly, including the natural but painful experience of witnessing parts gently die has been a soothing experience. For KLA ART ‘21 Kobusinge shares a sculptural recipe, a meditative walk through a garden in the heart of the city. An oasis imbued with herbs and with healing properties. Every guest is encouraged to bring a contribution of their own, and to also take what they need as an act of collective healing.

During her 2018 residency at 32° East, she explored printmaking as a medium for her ethereal figures. She also worked with barkcloth, paper, fabrics and used various objects including skin and her face to make prints. Thinking of the skin of a person being a record of experiences and time, she explored natural materials in the creation of her work to further develop her concept.
