Musinguzi Gilbert

Musinguzi, now also know as the Ant-Man, has fallen irreversibly in love with ants. Now an admirer of their social structures and their ability to create mounds much larger than themselves, he first saw them as invaders in his garden. After trying to destroy their homes several times, he came to question whether they were invaders in his space or he was imposing on theirs.

Taking this question a step further, he used his residency to investigate the experiences of displaced peoples who have created a new home on contested land and the crumbling hills of Kasokoso. He uses the framing of the ants’ community structures to question who is destroying their homes and hills, and who feels that they are the invaders of this once abandoned space.
