DeLovie Kwagala

DeLovie Kwagala is an international award winning multi anti disciplinary artist, Uganda’s first openly non-binary queer photographer, a human rights activist, a photojournalist, a somatic embodied Practitioner and the founder of Hashtagwhatnext. They are self-taught and their work explores narratives around Identity, Belonging, Social Injustices, and Gender-Sexuality with the intent to not sexualize, fetishize or stigmatize; inspired by their experience and those of others. DeLovie was a WomenPhotograph mentee and completed the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Programme at the Market Photo Workshop in Johannesburg.

DeLovie continued their practice of photography, documentation and somatic movement during their residency at 32° East. Their residency culminated in a night of poetry and movement.
