Rebecca Khamala is a designer with a bachelor’s degree in environmental design, majoring in architecture. She is a writer and an entrepreneur who is enthusiastic about people and cultures. She is very passionate about storytelling through different media, including poetry, cinematography, performance, art and design. She is currently exploring weaving, natural fibres, and their potentials in architecture and design.
During her residency at 32° East , Rebecca explored grief through creating a four-part installation that used living plants and indigenous materials like byayi, cotton t-shirt yarn, cotton thread, raffia, sisal, plant beads, calabashes, barkcloth, enjulu, and obukeedo
