Michael Kisambira

Michael Kisambira is a skilled wood and metal sculptor and jeweller. Using his media, he aims to celebrate Basoga culture and find ways to mine and preserve Basoga practice, particularly in the field of instrument making.

His residency was one of discovery. He travelled to the Basoga region and spoke with cultural custodians to gain an in-depth understanding of the technical aspects of making instruments as well as the meanings, processes and uses behind them.
